Precious Treasure

I rejoice at Your word
As one who finds great treasure.
(Psalm 119:162 NKJV)

The NIV uses phrases the above passage this way: "I rejoice in your promise..." God's Word is truth and full of promises, which is a great treasure. God promises to never leave us or forsake us. When we come to faith in Christ Jesus, we have eternal life. No matter how difficult things may become here on earth, God is always with us. Nothing can separate us form the love of Christ. Grab a hold of this truth of Scripture and never let go. Immerse yourself in His Word, for it is precious to our souls and a lamp unto our feet. It is an everlasting treasure to behold. His Word contains the keys to the kingdom of heaven and everlasting joy. People go through life seeking treasure of some sort, but everything this world has to offer is only temporary. I could find a buried treasure worth millions and rejoice for a moment. However, this treasure has wings, which will fly away. (See Proverbs 23:5) The question is not if, but when will it fly away. While I may believe this earthly treasure will solve all my problems, it may also be a source of misery, leading me to wish I never found it. Use the resources God has given you wisely, but hold His Word dear to your heart, for it a precious treasure to behold.

Great peace have those who love Your law,
And nothing causes them to stumble.
(Psalm 119:165 NKJV)

  2. Hi Ken,
I have been doing a lot of studying on the power in our words and God's Words. The power of the words we speak, as you know, work two ways, either to build up or tear down. They are either positive or negative. Encouraging or discouraging. God, being perfect uses words for encouraging and building up. He created our whole universe and everything in it with the power of His spoken Word. He gave us power in our words, not to create in the same way He did but to encourage and to pray and break curses and spiritual bondage. There IS a great treasure in God's Word, the key to unlock depression, bondage and to fight a spiritual war and destroy and lock up demons.

There is a well of knowledge, wisdom and treasure in Scripture, we just need to dig deep into it and search.

Thanks for sharing Ken, I love how you started and closed your post with Scripture. Reminds me of a blanket of warmth and security.

    Blessings,

  4. Child of God, I agree with everything you said in your comment. The Bible speaks a lot about words. As I was reading you contrasting how our tongue can either build up or tear down, I thought of what James said about the tongue being a flame of fire. It is so much better to build up than to tear down. One could devote a lot of time mining scripture as to what is has to say about the topic of words, both His and ours. I am certain you are blessed in diving into this subject mater.
Thank you for your comment and God bless you

  7. Such comfort knowing that NOTHING can separate us from Christ no matter what the devil tells us. The Christmas message the angels gave the Shepard's was of Hope and good will...peace and joy is what we should feel in our heart... it is there.

  11. Amen,
I agree with every word you have said. There are no riches on earth that can match the wisdom and knowledge contained in the scriptures, and it is far better to go through the 'door to the sheepfold' than the entrance to a goldmine.
    God bless
