Exercise Your Faith
Philippians 2:12-13 NKJV
"...work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure."
The thing I notice in my walk with the Lord, if I am not busy exercising my faith, I find my spiritual life becomes dry. My prayer and bible study is just not the same and I become lazy. I find myself just going through the motions. When I am busy serving the Lord in some way, I find that I come alive. For example, I notice a difference in my walk when I am ministering through this blog, as opposed to not. I hope and pray others are feed through my writings, but this blog does a major work in my life. To "workout your salvation" means to live out your faith and to live an obedient life. I believe this means more than just turning from sin, but also stepping out in faith bringing glory to God in your service to Him. In doing so, He will grow us. How are you doing with "working out your salvation?" Just for clarity, we do not work to earn our salvation. It is a gift of God. See Ephesians 2:8-10.

I love this scripture, and I agree with what you have said about it.
ReplyDeleteHi Ken,
ReplyDeleteLovely picture and Scripture verse. :)
If we just read Scripture and talk about it yet do nothing with what we are learning, then we are shallow, empty people. Exercising our faith is important and if this can be accomplished through a blog then go for it. I too find my blog helps me learn as I share.
Blessings brother,

Ken, what a delight to see you back in Blog Land! It's interesting that you mention how you feel different when you blog. I have found that my blogging is truly a venue that God uses to speak to me, to help me wrestle and wrangle my way to stronger faith. It's a place that I feel closer to Him, and blessed by the community of believers that I come in contact with.
ReplyDeleteFor me, blogging is part of that *working out* process.
GOD BLESS!
(Love the photos - really a nice addition to your great words!)
Hi Ken,
ReplyDeleteSo good to see that you are back to blogging. Your blog is one that I go to and find myself challenged, convicted and encouraged.
I too find that unless I am actively pursuing God and walking by faith I am just floating or worse drifting and going through the motions. Thanks for the reminder about the importance of actively exercising my faith, day by day.
By the way...I'm passing the baton on to you for the Liebster Award: http://thesusanblog.com/.
Blessings in Christ...Susan
