Always Too Soon

Last Saturday I attended a memorial service for the wife of a good friend of mine. Then this morning an elderly man who was close to my girlfriend when home to be with the Lord. In addition to this, his wife is very sick and may very well be on her last days. To top it off, my girlfriend was also in a car wreck today. Thanks be to Jesus she if ok. She is a little banged up, but will be fine. However, her car is most likely totaled.

One thing the pastor said in the memorial service which made so much since. It went something like this: “If you could choose how long would you live, what would it be, 200 years or what? But who would want to live in this body to be 200 years old. The thing is, no matter how long we live, death is always too soon.”

Death is always hard to deal with. Then we have other trials and tribulations we go through in life. This life can be very hard at times; we may feel overwhelmed and emotionally drained.

Here are the verses the Lord gave me today:

1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:1-6 NKJV)

None of us want to cut our lives short by any means, but it is so refreshing and reassuring to know when that day comes we have a mansion awaiting us in a kingdom where there is no more death. Let’s keep looking up and moving forward living our lives with the expectation of that day coming.

  2. When we belong to God, we know that death is not the end. But it's still hard for those of us left behind. So very thankful we can lean on God.

  3. Hi Ken,
So much tragedy all in a short period of time, I am sorry and praying for you and your girlfriend and friends.
Nobody likes death and I believe it is because we are so selfish. When my mom passed away and then many years later my dad, I cried and bawled like a baby. After the initial hurt passed I analyzed my sorrow and realized that my tears were for me, not them. I should be happy for them for I know they are with Jesus yet I miss them so much because I was their little girl.
I truly find pure sorrow in the passing of a non Christian for they will have eternity separated from God and all that is good.

Death is not easy and I bawl when an animal dies but when I really look at it this is because I am selfish and I want them here with me.

Praying for you Ken during this time of sorrow and praising God for keeping your girl friend safe.

    Blessings,
    <><

  4. Thank you Vilisi, Lisa and Child of God for your kind words and prayers, I appreciate them so very much. Yes, when a Chrstian loved one passes on, our tears are for ourselves. We can still rejoice because we will see them again. I can't help but think, when Jesus wept before He raised Lazarus from the dead, that He was weaping in part because He was bringing Him back from paradise.

Even in tragedy, we serve an awesome God.

    Blessings,
    Ken

  10. Hi Ken ~ Glory to God your girlfriend is o.k. It's times like these that seem to always put a perspective on life. Ya know even with tragedy God is doing good. We have to really know that He is in control and we just keep looking to Him.

Romans 8:28.."And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."

Thanks for your following and comment. I am in "awe" of our Almighty God, I too have been extremely blessed for being obedient. I know without Him there would be no way I could do what I am...Thanks again, gonna follow you back. God Bless :)

  18. I'm catching up on blogs I missed lately. I am so sorry for your losses! I praise God with you that your girlfriend is ok!!! It is very sobering to see death around us. It causes us to think about our own lives and causes us to live more fully. I recently discovered a Japanese film called "Departures" and while it comes from a different philosophical point of view, the film showed death in a very dignified way and that it is a part of the life cycle. We serve an amazing God who has taken the sting out of death, who has OVERCOME death, who takes death and turns it into victory! That to me is amazing and something no other "religion" (for lack of a better word) has been able to do. We serve an amazing God.

Blessings to you, Ken. Thank you for your kind comments and your prayers.

  19. @Child of God, Thank you and yes she is. Can you imagine the reunion she is experiencing right now!

@Mining for Diamonds, thank you Kimberly for your kind comments. Yes we do serve an amazing God. No other religion has a God who died to save believers and then rise from the dead. Some may say they do, but only Jesus did it!

Thank you for your comments and may God bless you,
    Ken
