It’s All about Jesus

Desktop Nexus: Nature Wallpapers > Waterfalls Wallpaper

I have been quiet on blogosphere over the past month or so. In part, I suppose, I needed a break or something.  Also, I believe the Lord was doing a work on my heart. Last year He told me to start writing a blog. First off, I am not a gifted writer or anything. I have to rewrite everything a number of times and use software to make sure the English is somewhat correct so that my writings make since. However, the Lord wanted me writing, so I did. It was only by His grace, and His strength was I able to write. Then I found myself building up pride, “look at me! I am getting many comments; people all over the world visit my blog. Boy, this is way cool." I would find myself going to my e-mail quite regularly checking to see if I received any new comments. Then when they were not there, I felt bummed out.

I suppose most people in ministry have to deal with pride in some way or another. We want to draw attention to ourselves. Oh yes, It is a wonderful thing making friends out there in blogger land. I sure do love reading the comments from my visitors and visiting other Christ centered blogs. I treasure all the friendships I have made. I hope and pray the Lord has used what I have written to help my readers grow in their walks with Jesus. Also, I hope and pray unsaved people come looking for answers, not just to my blog, but all of the Christ centered blogs out there. It's important to remember it's not about me; it is all about Jesus! It’s all about bringing glory to Him. Instead of rejoicing because I got comments, rejoice because His Word is going forth and He would use a sinner like me to bring Him glory. Also, rejoice in the online fellowship the Lord has given us, both through the internet and in life.

All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. (Colossians 1:16b-18 NKJV)

  1. Ken - I am delighted that you are back! Praise God! We sure have missed you. I think that generally speaking it has been somewhat quiet in blog land and no doubt God is working in all of us.:) I have been praying for you and wondering how you are. So its great to hear from you.Yes, I am very grateful to God for the online fellowship, more so because of where I am geographically. And you are right, we ought to rejoice that God's word is going forth. That's a great perspective to have. Bless you brother Ken and hope to hear more from you. :)

  2. Hi Ken,

The words you have written are so true and from the heart! Although I love to read the generous and heartfelt comments from my blog friends, my purpose for writing has to be focused on what He has put in my heart to share and benefit not only others but also to feed my own spirit.

Your words are truely a blessing to others (and me!) and I am certainly glad you have posted again, and look forward to hearing more from you. :)

    Blessings and love my friend,
    Denise

  3. Ken, this is definitely something I have had to deal with too. But like you said, I'm learning to rejoice that God's Word is going forth. I'm praising Him for the awesome work He is doing through our blogs. We just scatter the seed, and let Him do the work. Many blessings and nice to have you back. :)

  4. Welcome back, my friend. I also have spells of unproductivity on the ole blog.

Always keep in mind that your impact on others is very positive---even if you never get any feedback.

    God bless.

  5. Hi Ken,
I sure have missed you and totally love hearing what God is saying to you.
We all have to deal with pride in one way or another. When I am having an issue with pride, I force myself to stop and re-direct that pride towards pride in Jesus and what He did. It always humbles me and His beautiful love not only chastises me but shows me just how much He loves me.

I agree with Clint, your blog has a positive impact. :)

    Blessings,

  6. It is so hard not to get caught up in the numbers game, but I remember even if I just reach ONE person with the Word-it has gone forth and we know it will not go forth void!

  7. Ken,

I agree with you. When the Lord first told me to write two years ago this fall, I, too, almost became overwhelmed with the whole blogging world - the protocol, the "awards" the bling, buttons, widgets, the numbers, etc. I, too, had to stop in my tracks and ask myself - why am I doing this? It all came back to Him and ministering to others. For those who use the blogging world to bring truth and ministry to others, just like in the physical world of ministry, our impact may not be tangible in our lifetime, but will be working in unseen ways with eternal rewards. Thanks for your honesty.

  8. Hi Ken,

I'm glad you decided to share your struggles with this here. I've been dealing with it also..Pride will manifest in me when someone either joins my blog or leaves suddenly. Although I rejoice at a new friend deciding to join, I gotta remember it is not about me, it is God's Words, not mine; it's ok to rejoice as long as the glory is God's. And when someone leaves the blog I can't help wondering if it was something I wrote..that's pride too- I shouldn't take it so personally, ..Anyway, I'm glad your back to it.

  10. Ken, Thanks for your honesty. I guess we all have to stop and re-examine our priorities and motives at times. But I do believe God honors our testimonies on the internet. I know your writing has encouraged me! I have not been able to write much except on weekends since I got a new job. Bless you.

  11. Hello Ken, well here you are again and your friends are back. When you take time off you are probably meant to have a Sabatical in Him.. I myself have only just got back into more consistancy. I was unwell and still have a lot of pain and can't walk as well as I did. Coming here and reading how others are going through trials helps me know I am not alone. Anyhow, besides all the people you have here, Jesus is still with you no matter where you are. Hugs Crystal Mary.

  12. Ken, I'm so glad to have your presence back in Blog Land! I've missed your thoughtful posts. Boy, you have hit a target on this one! I have done some battle myself in the pride/humility realm through this avenue of blogging. It's a wonderful ministry tool, yes - but the Lord has also used it to battle with me over my need for the approval of PEOPLE. He has humbled me several times over.

I truly want to be used OF the Lord, FOR the Lord. It really is all about Him. I'm glad that He loves me enough to sometimes knock me out of the way!!

Rejoice that He uses us, yes! Rejoice in our online fellowship, indeed! And always, always, remember - whatever we do, we do for the glory of the One.

    GOD BLESS!
