Psalm 46 God Is Our Refuge And Strength

Psalm 46:1

46

God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah
(Psalm 46:1-3 NKJV)

What truly wonderful and powerful these verses are to hold on to when troubles strike. We all live in a fallen world which guarantees we all will face many challenges in life. Some of these will be quite difficult. The question we must ask of ourselves is: "Do I go through this with God, or apart from Him." One may rely on God's strength and wisdom in going through this thing or their own. Here is where faith comes in, "Do I believe God?" Remember Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."Just something to think about.

"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NKJV)

  1. Hi Ken,
It is so amazing to walk through tough and troubled times with your eyes on Jesus and your mind on His Words. I wonder how people make it through dispare when they don't know God. How do they deal with the turmoil that is rolling around inside of them? When we have Jesus and focus on Him, seeking His face, even the worst of times can not shake us but only make us grow stronger.

    Thanks for sharing such encouragement.

  2. Ken, these were incredibly uplifting verses for me today. The last five months have been very trying, very overwhelming as I've dealt with my dad's death, and the increased care of my mother. There have been many times when all I've been able to do is run to the Lord and just collapse. Thankfully, His arms are strong and lift me up every time.

    GOD BLESS!

    1. Hi Sharon. A few years back I went through the grieving process with the death of my first wife. It was a very trying time and it took quite awhile to get through. However I experienced an amazing peace at the same time from Jesus. His Word gave me the strength to get through it along with prayer. I will be lifting you up in prayer and thank you for your comment. God bless

    1. Hi Dee, amen to that. "All things do work for good with that." Sometimes we do not see how He can turn our situations into good but He does. I too have experienced this in my life. God bless and thank you for your visit and comment.

  4. Hi Ken,
just scrolled down my blog list, I am having a break from blogging at the moment, and came across your post. I love this Psalm and these verses from it. These words have proved themselves true so many times in my life. It is amazing that the words that are written in the Bible can become so real in our lives, bringing a peace that passes all understanding, and that our Lord can be a strength that is far greater than anything physical. I will say forever 'I love Thee O Lord my strength'.
    God bless you Ken.

    1. Hi Brenda. I hope and pray you are enjoying your blog break. We all need that at times. I still look back to the most difficult trial in my life and am amazed at the peace which surpasses all understanding which I experienced going through it. God is good. God bless you to Brenda and it is good hearing from you.
