Lately, I have been reading of reports of increasing layoffs again in the US. It is a scary thing for many people, including myself. My job has been on shaky ground for quite some time now. Even though I am employed at the moment, wages have not kept pace with inflation. Many are hurting these days; many are worried sick. The government say’s our economy is getting better, yet one does not require a PHD in economics to see that we are facing some trying times. Many have lost faith in our leaders. Some say they are intentionally selling us out. I do not know, but maybe. What are we to do? Where are we to turn?
And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us,
And establish the work of our hands for us;
Yes, establish the work of our hands.
(Psalm 90:17)
3 You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
4 Trust in the LORD forever,
For in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength.
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
4 Trust in the LORD forever,
For in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength.
(Isaiah 26:3-4)
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (Matthew 6:31-34)
I pray all of us hold fast to the Lord in the days ahead with our eyes set on eternity. Let’s all live Godly lives sharing the message of Jesus Christ with whoever will listen. Let's not forget our brothers and sisters in the Lord who are hurting and be steadfast in prayer for the body of Christ. God has called us for a time such as this, let’s be prepared to answer the calling. Many feel something dreadful is fixing to happen; if it does, we will see a time of great opportunity. Many will be willing to listen and receive the gospel of Jesus Christ. God will allow us an opportunity to make eternal differences in many people’s lives. Of course, things may smooth out for a season, which is a good thing. However, preparing for the worst and praying for the best is a wise move.

Thanks for your words today Ken! This is why we need to be steadfast in Him and in the Word, so when bad things do happen, we can be peaceful, calm, and ready to share the gospel of Christ to those ready and ripe to listen!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat opportunities lie before us!
Amen. Things are BAD in our country today. God is all we have or need, but our government has determined that it is politically incorrect to follow Him. What a sad, sad people we are who allow this....
ReplyDeleteGreat words today Ken. The Lord will keep us through everything. We do need to stay strong to help those around us and share the Word with them. I so appreciate the community of Christian bloggers we have because we can all pray for each other and hold each other up in JESUS name!
ReplyDeleteBlessings in Him...Chelle
Our hope comes from the Lord alone. Can't imagine going through these days without Him.
ReplyDeleteKen, how very right you are.....while we may not always have jobs, they may come and go, we will always have Kingdom work, and that is the most important kind. We are living in very unsettling times, yet we rest on the foundation of the Solid Rock! Blessings, Lori
ReplyDeleteHi Ken -
ReplyDeleteYou expressed, "God will allow us an opportunity to make eternal differences in many people’s lives."
That is the best of all that happens.
Thank you, Ken, for sharing this.
Hi Ken,
ReplyDeleteFor such a time as this! Our Lord is preparing us and He has promised to provide for us.
Praying you will have work.
Blessings,

Hi Ken,
ReplyDeleteGood post. Thank you for the reminder to keep our focus on the Lord and know that our security is in Him alone.
Like most businesses these days our company has experienced layoffs. It's hard because none of us knows what tomorrow will bring. But I think that's something that the Lord will use to keep His children close to Him and each another.
It's also an opportunity to minister to encourage and pray for others, both believers and non-believers. Like you said, God may use us to make an eternal difference in people's lives.
Blessings in Christ! Susan
Amen, Ken. I always love your posts. So pure and simple, and they so easily wade into the deep truths of the word! And they apply! They apply to life! How great is our God? So great!
ReplyDeleteI have to remind myself not to feel too confident about my husband's job. It seems secure, but we know that nothing in this world truly is secure, except for our salvation in Jesus Christ!
Praying for your job... Thanks for the post!
Ken, Thanks for helping us focus on our SOURCE! It is a temptation to panic in times like this, but still we have so much for which to be thankful. Bless you.
ReplyDeleteHi Ken! I haven't heard from you in such a long while. I trust that you are happy and healthy. Thanks for your words and a timely reminder to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. There is a lot of uncertainty in the world, but we can be certain of whom we trust. God is good, all the time!
ReplyDeleteGOD BLESS!

What a lovely message Ken with great scripture reference and awesome picture! There are so many struggling with this right now, and the verse that I refer to often is Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."
ReplyDeleteWe must all pray for each other and strengthen the bonds that tie us all together as a Christian family! :)
Denise
Thank you Denise for your comment and Jeremiah 29:11. I love that verse.
