First Things First

1 Give ear to my words, O LORD,
    Consider my meditation.
2 Give heed to the voice of my cry,
   My King and my God,
For to You I will pray.
 3 My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD;
In the morning I will direct it to You,
    And I will look up.
    (Psalm 5:1-3 NKJV)

Yes I know, there are many times one might wake up in the morning running. We live busy lives, but there is something special about meeting with God first thing in the morning. I find there is a sweetness and peace when I turn to the Lord first thing in the morning. However, when I am off to the races before my time with God, something is amiss. It is like going into battle with no armor.

  1. Hi Ken,
Some days it seems like the moment our feet hit the floor and we get out of bed, things go wrong. But it doesn't have to be this way! I have found that my days start off so much better when I give my day to the Lord and thank Him in advance for the opportunities He has planned for me...He wants to be IN CHARGE of my day!

    Blessings sweet friend! :)

  3. I'm the same way. I get edgy if I don't have my quiet time. It's like you say- the arrows of the enemy hit harder because I don't have my armor on. I love time in the Lord's presence. God bless!

  4. Hi Ken,
I love the new blog look, awesome!

I too wake up extra early to spend time with God. Going into battle without our armour, well that is just foolishness. :)

    Blessings brother,

  7. I have never considered myself a morning person, but for the past several months, I have been waking up at 5:00 (without an alarm) and spending time with God. It's so peaceful, the house is quiet, and it's just me and God. I love it!

Great encouragement, Ken ~ many blessings!

  10. One morning I was having a hard time getting awake for my prayer time, and the song, "Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus" came to mind."Stand in His strength alone. The arm of flesh will fail you, you dare not trust your own." Thanks for this scripture!

  11. This post reminds me to take the time to start talking to God before my feet even hit the ground.
I think we forget that we must actively decide to put the armour on, it doesn't just happen each day!

  12. Off to the races without Him - that got a chuckle out of me. Mostly because it's just so humanly true! But you're right, when we go into our day without having that quiet time with Him, it's sorta like running with our shoes tied together, huh?!

Good words, and loved the perfect verse!

    GOD BLESS!
