Tim Tebow

10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (Matthew 5:10-11 NKJV)

Last week I saw a cartoon in the local newspaper which offended me. The cartoon had the devil standing dressed in a football uniform with 666 on his back. He was standing over a man lying on his back. I suppose this person was Tim Tebow. His jersey had the letter “T” in the shape of a cross and the number 3:16 to its side.  The cartoon was sending the message that the devil had victory in this instance. I hate seeing the world making a mockery of us believers in Christ and of Jesus Himself. We all know Jesus has already defeated the Satan 2,000 years ago on the cross. The Denver Broncos and Tim Tebow may have lost a football game, but it is just that, a football game. This is not a victory for Satan.

Concerning football, I only casually watch the Arizona Cardinals, a few of the playoff games and the Super Bowl. As a result, I have not followed the Tim Tebow thing all that much, but it is my understanding that he is not afraid to proclaim the name of Jesus. This we all know, the enemy does not want the gospel going forth, for he knows “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” The devil will do whatever he can to discourage us from speaking of Jesus. He also desires silencing those who spread the gospel. Let us all not be afraid allowing the enemy to stop us from speaking of Jesus. We must remember “…He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4b) We are in a much bigger battle than any ole football game, peoples eternal souls are at stake.

My message today can be summed up in the following:

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. (Galatians 6:9 NKJV)

  1. Beautifully written Ken! We must be bold and faithful to share our testimonies and love for our Lord. I like how you said, "Let us all not be afraid allowing the enemy to stop us from speaking of Jesus. We must remember “…He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

    Blessing my friend!

  2. Hi Ken,
Wow, that is really sad. Sad for the person who drew it and sad for the people who read it and laugh.

Good message Ken. Though the world grow darker and darker we should never despair and give up but become stronger and bolder for Jesus Christ.

Thanks for sharing Ken, I will be praying for that cartoonist.

    Blessings,

  3. Satan was defeated 2,000 years ago and that's not going to change in the outcome of a football game. :) Great encouragement to never grow weary ~ many blessings, Ken!

  5. I guess the thing about the Tebow attention is that it makes us Christians realize how many Americans have no idea what the "Good News" of John 3:16 is. Someday soon, it will be evident that we must choose life or death. There is no middle ground.

  6. Hi Ken -

You speak truth indeed. Thank you, dear brother.

That Galatians 6:9 is speaking volumes, as does all of our Lord's words. But today, I needed the one that you posted - Galatians 6:9

GOD is above it all and that is so reassuring. Truly, He always wins!

  9. Hi Ken,

Boy oh boy, that verse in galations you used for your summary speaks volumes to me right now. God showed me that I must not give up on 'My Heart's Home' so I am walking by faith and continuing on with it.

My husband and I don't follow sports, but I know most people do, and Tim Tebow is a great warrior for the faith in that arena. I will pray for him. It seems like the devil is getting lazy and forgetting to disquise himself lately..this attack on tebow is proof of that. Those who are sensative to the truth will see just how ugly that drawing is, and it will serve as a motivation for more people to be willing to listen to what Tebow has to say, to hear the gospel of Christ.

    ~God Bless~ Lisa

  10. We all know Jebus defeated satan 2000 years ago? How do you know? Where's the proof? The bible is not historically accurate, it's a fictional nobel.

Plus, if Jebus did defeat satan, why aren't there any accounts of such an amazing feat anywhere else? There's no other documentation of such even anywhere else besides the bible, and like we went over above, it's merely a fictional novel.

  11. Bruce,
I would propose you look at proof everyday. It is setting right before your eyes. The calender was changed because of this man, Jesus. You have heard of a date such as 500 BC? This means 500 years before Christ. 2,000 years ago today Jesus was a boy growing up. Very few people doubt the existence of Jesus, only disagree as to who He is. If He did not exist, Christianity would have been easily been destroyed in the first century. This Jesus gave sight to the blind, cured leapers, raised the dead, feed thousands with little food and said He would die and raise from the dead on the third day. Then He did it. Many saw the resurrected Christ. His apostles went out and preached salvation through this Jesus. If He was a myth, that would have been impossible to pull off considering the people were still alive at the time Jesus was said to have done this.

You say the "The bible is not historically accurate." Can you give examples? People has tried and failed for hundreds of years to show the Bible is not accurate.

This Jesus went to the cross, died and rose from the dead to purchase for you a gift more valuable than all the wealth in the entire world. The question is, do you want to receive it or not?
