The Heavens Declare The Glory Of God

Source
The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork.
(Psalm 19:1 NKJV)

Indeed My hand has laid the foundation of the earth,
And My right hand has stretched out the heavens;
When I call to them,
They stand up together.
(Isaiah 48:13 NKJV)

I am just in awe as I look at the below photos. This is just a small glimpse of the majesty of our God.

According to NASA's "Imagine The Universe" website,
about one million earths would fit into the sun.

Source
This irruption on the sun would engulf the earth many times over.
The earth is the little blue dot in the lower right hand corner of the above picture.

Source
In the photo above, the earth is not even visible and the sun is tiny compared to the star "Arcturus."

Source

And Arcturus is nothing compared to Antares.

And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
(Colossians 1:17 ESV)

Our God measures the universe with the span of His hand and in Christ all things are held together. Scripture tells us that God knows even when a sparrow falls to the ground, and that we are more valuable to God than this bird. Our heavenly Father even knows the number of hairs on each of heads. And our God desires a personal relationship with us which is real. It is mind blowing to think about this. Take a look at creation and see the wonders of His work, it reveals the glory and majesty of our God. The creation which we see is cursed due to sin, can you just imagine what it will be like in the new heavens and earth, which is not corrupted by sin?  In light of all this, we should get excited every Sunday when we get to go to church and lift up our praises to Him. Each and every morning we should rejoice that we get to spend some time in His presence singing Him praises, listening to His voice through reading His Word, and our precious time in prayer with our God. Any time you do not feel like praying or spending time with the Lord, just remember who He is and how awesome He is, and how can we not want to lift up our praises to Him and come into His presence?

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. (Matthew 10:29-31 NKJV)

  1. Hi Ken,
    Lovely post.
I get goose pimples when I think of God's Majesty. These are wonderful pictures, I had no idea these huge stars existed. Last night I was looking up at the stars and marvelling at their beauty. What a wonderful creator we have that can have so much power and yet so much love. Power on earth is mostly related to hatred and destruction. God bless you.

    1. Brenda, I love looking up at the stars, especially when I get away from the city lights. It is so beautiful and awesome, it reminds me of how great is our God, and how small I am. It puts everything into perspective, doesn't it? What you said about God's power, and His love compared to man's power is so true. We all need to learn a lesson from God here. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and may God bless you

  3. Hi Ken,
I just love seeing pictures like these...puts things into perspective a bit more doesn't it.

It still blows my mind that out of all this creation God chooses people like me to talk to and to have fellowship.
When you look at the above pictures and see how tiny earth is (and we are much tinier) and then you think about how Jesus left His place in glory to come down into this tiny earth and suffer and die for us...it's like imagining someone shrinking themselves down into a petri dish under a microscope in order to interact with and ultimately die for the microbes there so that they will not perish!

    1. Lisa, Oh yes, it is mind blowing that an all powerful God wants a personal relationship with us! I just love your analogy. I never quite thought of it like that, but is sure does put things into perspective. Would I shrink myself down into a petri dish, if I could for the microbes? Probably not. This testifies to His love for us. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and may God bless you

  4. Wow Ken ~ Thanks for sharing this! I had no idea how big the stars are but it makes sense looking at it. When I go out in the summer months and just sit and stare at the stars I know they are miles and miles away...more miles than I can imagine! But I just never thought of it like this. God is just so awesome and amazing! I am so glad He chose me to love. And I'm glad He gave us this blogging world to share Him and ourselves with each other.
Thank you for the prayers they are much appreciated.
    Blessings to you...Chelle

    1. Chelle, I hope and pray your recovery from surgery goes well. When I am looking up at the stars, I have often wondered how it is that we can even see them considering how far away they are. But it is God's design that we can see them. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and may God bless you

  5. Since I was a little girl, I have always been interested in astronomy. I am fascinated by the sizes and the distances - and the sheer vastness of the universe. Awestruck.

Since moving to my new mountain home, I love the night skies. The stars are so clear and so pretty - and there are so many of them! To think that my God knows the name of every single one - awestruck!

Thanks for this great message, Ken. May we stand in awe at the God who created an amazing universe. At a God who also chose to become one of us...

    GOD BLESS!

    1. Sharon, It is totally amazing, isn't it? Just think when we see our eternal home just how it will blow us away. It will be so amazing and wonderful. When I go to the mountains I love to look up and take in the stars. It is like you say, I am "awestruck!" Thank you for sharing your thoughts and may God bless you

  6. Hi Ken,
I LOVE how you presented this!! Great job! WOW to think that God measures the universe with the span of His hand. Knowing how huge Antares is and thinking that is probably like a smidge of dirt in the Father's hand, totally blows me away! Yep, it is stuff like this that helps us understand that Yes, God is eternal.

    Blessings brother,

    1. Child of God, What is amazing, in Genesis God said, and it happened. He made them just by speaking. Wow! It says, "He made the stars also." (Gen 1:16) It is just like saying, "oh, and He did that too!" How awesome is our God. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and may God bless you

  8. Love this post, Ken - I love being able to spend time in God's presence each morning and during the day I try to remember to pause and praise Him. I'm learning again how powerful praise is. Sometimes I feel repetitive and struggle for something fresh to say so I turn to Psalms. Thanks for this encouraging post. God bless.

    1. Vilisi, I too sometimes feel my praise and even prayers are repetitive and sometimes even a struggle. I think the enemy lies to us and puts things in our lives to distract us. But this is the time to be persistent and keep on praying and praising. When we reflect on the majesty of God and rejoice in who He is, we come to life again. The Psalms are an awesome place to return to. Thank you for sharing and may God bless you.

  9. Great post, Ken. My friend used to have a wall size map of the universe and there was an arrow pointing to a pinpoint dot that said "YOU ARE HERE". So thankful we serve a MIGHTY GOD. FYI, I see that The Isaiah 9:10 documentary is in two parts on You Tube. I wish I would have seen the documentary first and then read the book THE HARBINGERS, because it is a lot to think about. Bless you.
